alionsonny is a one man music project, created by the musician Juergen
Wolther based in Hamburg/Germany. The project started in July 2004 with
the song "Herbman in Space" and has released about 100 single songs and
8 musicvideos until now.

History

alionsonny is a musician since the age of 14 when he did his first
musical steps playing leadguitar in a Punkband. Through the years he
played in various bands of different genres and worked as a
soundengineer and studiomusician at a local recording studio. From 1990
to 2004 he worked as a Softwaredeveloper and IT-Consultant, which did
not leave much time for making music. He was allways interested in the
possiblities of digital music production and after setting up a very
limited digital studio he decided to start the project alionsonny. over
the years, the digital studio has been largely improved and the
alionsonny sound found more and more fans around the globe.

Music

The alionsonny sound does not fit into any particular genre. Mostly it
is a style mix of different genres, such as Reggae, Dub, Ambient- and
Trancetechno, Folk and 80's Popmusic. The alionsonny sound evolved over
the years. From 2004 to 2005 most songs were "reggaelike" or "dublike"
productions with Folk and Techno elements. alionsonny created his own
genres, such as "Alion Dance Reggae", which is basically fast Techno-
or Discormusic mixed with Ska and Reggaeelements, often "spiced up"
with Dub effects. The most "Alion Dance Reggae" tracks were produced
from 2005 to 2006. In 2006 and even more in 2007, alionsonny
concentrated on another "own genre" called "Alion Electronic
Spacerock". This "own genre" is a mix of Rockrythms and -basslines
played on synthesizer equipment, and 80's popstyle synthesize sounds.
Another important "own genre" is "Alion Celtic (Dub) Reggae", a mix of
celtic folk melodies, mostly Irish Jigs and Reels, and Reggae Rythms.

Name

The name alionsonny is a wordpuzzle. Sonny often felt like an Alien
amongst most other people and during his life he had to fight through
many unpleasant situtaions like a lion. Then, in the 1980's he was
given the nickname Sonny by some friends because of a joke that was
related to the fictional person "Sonny Crocket" from the TV Series
"Miami Vice". This all together makes up the name alionsonny.

Future

Because of the popularity of the "own genres" by alionsonny, he will in
the future concentrate more on them. Especially "Alion Electronic
Spacerock" and "Alion Celtic Reggae" are offering great possibilities
and are the most popular types of alionsonny music. alionsonny is also
stepping into the direction of soundtrack and music for computergames
recently. But noone should ever make assumptions about the future of
the alionsonny project. Only one thing is sure: The beat goes on!
